Cosmeticsinfo.org is an information Web site that includes factual, scientific information on ingredients most commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products in the United States. The Personal Care Products Council and its member companies sponsor this Web site to provide consumers with easily accessible comprehensive safety information on cosmetics and personal care products and to help consumers make informed purchases. 

 


FDA's legal authority over cosmetics is different from other products regulated by the agency, such as drugs, biologics, and medical devices. Cosmetic products and ingredients are not subject to FDA premarket approval authority, with the exception of color additives. 

 

 Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP) is a national professional membership association for US skin care professionals.  They offer a wealth of support for both new and established estheticians including a bi-monthly digital magazine - Skin Deep.

In 2011, direct and indirect employment in the European cosmetics industry was approximately 1.7 million people.

  

CIDESCO was founded in 1946 to give Estheticians the opportunity to exchange experiences with their colleagues in other countries.  CIDESCO International has national Sections in 30 countries spread over the five continents. Policy decisions are taken at the annual World Congress. The General Assembly elects a Presidium of Board Members from different countries - the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, General Secretary, Member for Education and Member for Public Relations. The organization is registered in Switzerland (Commercial Register No. 6632) and has its Head Office in Zurich.

 

Aesthetics International Association (AIA) was founded in 1972 as the first American aesthetics association. Within a few years, AIA became a truly international association by establishing chapters in Europe, Asia and South America. AIA was founded to bring aesthetic professionals together to network, share knowledge and to gather in numbers to establish a presence in the industry. Their monthly digital magazine - DERMASCOPE - offers a wealth of articles and information for the Skin care professional.
